Cambridge Folk Festival

I was lucky enough to be performing at the Cambridge Folk Festival this past weekend as part of the Julie Fowlis band, with Eamon Doorley of Danu on Bouzouki, Ross Martin of Daimh on Guitar and John McCusker on Fiddle. It was an amazing weekend and I got the chance to meet a few musical heroes.

The highlight of the weekend was the session on the Sunday night where I got to sit in with the Mandolin King, Chris Thile from Nickel Creek and John Paul Jones, founding member of Led Zeppelin. It was a great weekend of music. Nickel Creek rocked the place. The best quote I heard from another musician was “they basically make the rest of us look like *&$%@.” Dervish were on fine form, as were The Chieftains, who headlined the Saturday night. Other highlights were the John Butler Trio, Capercaillie and Croft No.5, who brought the house down on the Sunday night.
